Learning to color

Well, mama took another girls trip. Kendra and I headed to New Jersey to see our friend, Laura that had a baby boy, Jack, at the end of July. So Chris was on his own for 4 whole days! My mom was not even in town to help out - and no babysitters available. So he was really on his own. He did a great job though, and I am so proud that a)he is willing to take this on and b)that he can actually do a good job and c)that he didn't complain!! When I came home the babies had learned to raise their hands and say "Touchdown!" but alas they had not learned to color. Guess those Crayolas just taste too good!

Fun night out!

On September 19th, we got together to celebrate Kendra's birthday - now she is old like us. We had a fun night out with the McDaniels and the Hammonds, having dinner at Taverna, drinks at Reatta, and home before midnight; my how things have changed!

A couple funny stories...

The pic is not related, just cute!

1. We have had some teething issues as of late. Price had 2 molars break through last week. So the days leading up to this, really the nights, were brutal. He would wake up in the night and just scream out in pain. It was so sad. Well the first night, I just did not realize what it was, so my last resort (and 3rd time up with him w/in about an hour and a half) was medicine. So Chris came up with an acronym (sorry it is slightly inappropriate, if you think of the worst possible way this could be pronounced) M-FCR. But it stands for Medicate, Feed, Change, Rock. This has been quite effective going forward!

2. Price responds to the direction "Cierra la puerta" which is "close the door" in Spanish. I say it enough I guess, and just realized that he complied when I said it! So maybe that is the delay - he is speaking Spanish, not English! ha ha.

Ah-oh....

before
Well, we had a little accident this weekend. After a nice walk, enjoying the beautiful post-Ike weather, we were just playing outside. Price went running after Charis and did a face-plant on the driveway. She is such a cautious child, these sorts of things never seem to happen to her. Price like his Daddy, is kind of a "bull in a China shop" - he just goes, without really worrying about anything, least of all being careful. I was hoping it would look a litte better by this morning, but it actually looks worse!

With the impending hurricane, Ike, this weekend, I was all prepared for a weekend indoors. We did get out once to go to Target, to make sure we had necessities in case things got too bad, which of course they did not! But these are just some pics of the kids playing inside - not too different from any other day, really!

Our Little Geniuses

So Kendra tells me the other day that her little girl Hannah, who is 12 days older than the twins, can count to ten - "she forgets 7 sometimes" but otherwise is there. hmmm....I don't see that happening anytime soon at our house! We are still enjoying the simpler pleasures of life.

Mother's Day Out

So I got the big idea to put them in Mother's Day Out one day a week. It is called "Sprouts" - cute, right? at the Baptist Church near us. Just one day from 9-2; I figured it would be good for them and I could get some work done, and then the time that I was spending with them the rest of the days would be more quality. So we get all ready and make it there by 9am (this proved quite a challenge for me). Above is a pic before we walked in - when they were still oblivious. It was all okay, even walking in to the little room, but then they realized I was leaving. I hung around and watched through the window for a little while, but I didn't want to be one of "those" moms making teachers uncomfortable etc. So I headed on out. As I walked out the front door of the Church (their room is in the back) I could still hear Charis screaming. It was so sad, and I was pretty much out of sorts all day. I got to go get them at 1:45 though and Charis looked like she'd had a rough day. They told me that the kids cried pretty much the first hour. But Price appeared to be having fun when I got back there, and Charis was walking around holding "Ray-Ray" her little bunny sleep aid. The biggest problem with all of this is that they only napped for 45 minutes the whole time there! They usually nap from about 9:30 or 10 - 11:30 or 12! So they were pretty tired, and unfortunately still unable to nap once we got home. So I am still undecided if this is worth it and will probably give it a couple more tries. But if there's no improvement by the beginning of October, we're probably done - at least until the first of the year.

"Don't mess with me or my brother!" Doesn't she look tough?!

One funny story on the day...Price's carseat is in the middle, so I actually have to get in the car to get him out. So I was back there unbuckling him and the crazy wind (remember the nice weather last week!) blew my door closed. So I get him undone and go to get out of the car, and I remember one of my friends showed me how to child lock the back doors. Fabulous. So I had to crawl over the middle console and get back out the front. Being a little less agile than I used to be, this was a pretty awkward maneuver for me.

So please pray for us, that this MDO situation either resolves or ends soon!
