ah oh spaghetti-o's

The kids ate spaghetti for the first time a couple weeks ago. I am quite guilty of not having fed them much from our table and it has really made feeding times tough. They simply do not eat what we do, for the most part. I know this is bad, and it was never my intention, it just sort of happened. But I am working on it! Spaghetti is certainly a step in the right direction. And oh how cute they are!
Their VLCAD means they have to eat pretty clean. That means we also need to eat pretty clean. As we eat more and more meals together we are needing to change some of our own eating habits! We always have breakfast together as a family, but usually dinner is just one parent or the other. It's a workable situation for now, but I look forward to family dinners! Hopefully by then they will not insist on standing in their seats!

Disney on Ice

This was actually back in March, but we were given the very special treat of being taken to Disney on Ice. Matt Cheatham's mom, Tina treated us all to this awesome event, complete with like 2nd row tickets. I was a bit worried as to whether they'd be old enough to enjoy the show. But with the 2nd row seats, their attention was captured! I'm afraid we're officially spoiled and will only want close tickets for events like that in the future...

ZIP IT!!

So Charis is hollering "zip it, zip it!!" and when I walk in I see her with my capris up to her chest, her in one leg of them. She'd drug them out of our to-go-to-the-dry-cleaners-bin and decided to put them on. She is so funny - and soooo strong-willed. Bless her heart with that mess of a hair-do. She speaks so clearly; yes, I'm proud! She said the ABC's today, and I could hardly believe it. The whole thing is not clear, but it's there. She replaces the "F" sound with a "P" sound, calling the phone "pone" and fruit "poot" and strangely, smoothie "pootie" - for now, at least, it's cute! We walked in to her room this morning to "yucky, it's yucky!!!" holding out her hand. A quick sniff revealed the greatest fear, yes that's right...poo. Yes, baby, it IS yucky. Daddy, will get you a wet wipe...

Happy Easter!!

What a fun Easter we had this year. The kids sat at a kid table with their big cousins, Jax and Savanna, and ate ham and sweet potatoes all by themselves! It was wonderful to just sit at an adult table and eat my own food, glancing over every few minutes to make sure things were going okay. Oh how they're growing!!
So I had a teaser about some of the things they were doing to make life more difficult - they went thru a little stage where they just loved to take all their clothes off! It was when it first started getting warmer so I thought it might be the heat, but turned out it was just a fun activity! But they seem pretty well past that now. We have since been thru a tantrum stage - they are quite funny b/c Price just throws an all-out tantrum, but Charis is a very cautious child and rather than throwing herself on the floor, she will be hollering and then stop and sit down carefully and slowly lower her head to the floor and then continue on. Our current stage is to do everything "myself" and Price has even mastered this term - unfortunately it landed him in the ER but that's a different post all together.
I will close this Easter post with a praise for the purpose of this great holiday! We got a book this year called "God's Love at Easter". Price especially loves it and can point out Jesus, Mary and Joseph. He calls it the Jesus book. But it closes with this "and so each year we celebrate God's love on Easter day...The day when at the garden tomb the stone was rolled away!" Thank you Jesus, for taking the punishment for OUR sins so that we can be made righteous in the site of God and for RISING again so we can go to heaven!

Blue Bonnets

So I got the big idea to take the kids out to get some blue bonnet pics. I talked my mom in to coming with me, and thank goodness I did. It would have been even more of a disaster if I had tried to go that alone. But we headed out to this nice spot in Grapevine and we were going to get some great photos! Well right off the bat I started to sense this was not going to be the effortless photo shoot I'd imagined. The blue bonnets were tall and thick - and I think it just scared them. They did not like being in those flowers! We got a few cute shots, none the less, but effortless, it was not.

hunting for Easter eggs!

April 4 the kids participated in their first egg hunt! It was a beautiful day - over 80 degrees, which was a bit unexpected for the beginning of April! And of course that meant that all the chocolate I had put in the eggs turned in to a melty mess! But the kids got their baskets and loaded them up with eggs. I was surprised they caught on so quickly and so well! I mean they did it, but I think they were not really sure what was so great about it. They've still not had candy, so when they opened the eggs and found candy I just let them think it was something to play with and eventually to throw away. Mean, I know. I am planning to save the candy to bribe them to use the potty! They are so funny though - their favorite thing (apparently) is Capri-Sun. They love them. Once Charis got a hold of one she kept a death grip on it long past the point of it being all gone. She has the Capri-Sun to her face in every picture!
